YOU are a beloved owner… Sammy adores you so much, he is bringing you gifts every single day!
I know it’s gross… keep some latex gloves around or plastic bags to help with pick-up. The remains are better than the alternative– rodents in your house. I had a mouse family come in after my neighbors bagged and de-bugged their house… all the cockroaches and mice came my way looking for new digs. And a mouse had babies in the afghan my mother knitted for me! The cat had snackies that night. *s* But the mother mouse got poisoned by the neighbors’ tenting and died– behind my wall. It was October, it was cold and the house smelled to high holy hell. I had all the windows wide, sprayed that Glade crap all the time, burned incense and potpourri… and after the smell died down, then came the flies that hatched from the maggots on the dead mouse’s body (I’m assuming… we couldn’t tear out the cabinets to find a dead mouse!).
So, the next time you want to groan at Sammy’s great prowess, he is saving you from mice having babies on your linens, mice dying behind walls and creating a horrid stench… and then, the bonus round, the army of flies that just came and came and came… had the vacuum cleaner on stand-by to suck up any so foolish as to show their shiny bodies.
The next cat I had after the snackies cat was a good mouser and ratter. And every time he brought me one, I remembered that time in October… and gave him lots of love and thanks for his great skill and prowess. **gg**
